Google Tags Gain Locations, Features

Google is going to be gradually opening up “Tags” to the entire US.

Tags is an advertising feature for local businesses, allowing companies to get a special marker next to their business location, for $25/month. This marker appears both on Google Maps and on the Google home page, when local results are displayed. The tags will also be appearing in mobile.

Although I have not seen data on performance for Google Tags, they appear quite prominently, as you can see from this screen:

The fact that Google is rolling this out nationwide likely means they garner some attention, and at $25 are not too expensive to try out. Google has also added the ability to use a “custom message tag” allowing the business owner to create a message and update it as they like.
